Your Life is Your Message
I was driving down the freeway on my way back from an appointment when I saw this written on a wooden sign “Your Life is Your Message.” And you are probably thinking “ok so what?” Well on my way to that appointment, I asked the Lord that I would like to hear from Him while I was out. So when I saw that sign with the message written on it, something in me leaped. And this time around, that message, which I have heard several times before, took on a deeper personal meaning to me.
I remember the times in the past when I would hear people say “your life is your message” or “turn your mess into your message” or “your mess is your ministry” or any variation of that. At that time it was just another ordinary, no-meaning statement to me. I chucked it into my bucket of “things people say.” One, because I didn’t think the events of my life were worth sharing. I mean things that happened to me were just due to my bad luck. And two, I didn’t feel like anyone wanted to hear me talk or like I saw it “rant” or “whine” about my problems. I didn’t think anyone cared to listen to what I had to say. So for years I kept it all to myself, and hid behind the walls of “I’m just a very private person”.
I had no idea that God was preparing me for what was to come. I had no idea that God was taking note of every tear, every affliction, every pain, and of course every victory because yes! There were victories! Plenty of them, though at that time I didn’t see them as victories. To me, they were just part of life. You see, I had the attitude of “in life, you win some, you lose some.”
I remember, even to this day, my mom’s best friend, who really is like my “unofficial-official” adopted mother (get it? ☺) would always say “Enna my daughter, when you write that book about your life’s story and it reaches a lot of people, you better not forget me” or “Enna my daughter, when are you going to write that book?” She has been saying this to me for years now. Little did I know that God was actually using her to prophesy into my life.
Now, have I written the book? No, not yet. But am I going to write the book? You bet I am! Especially now that I have discovered by the guidance of the Holy Spirit that indeed, My Life is My Message! I don’t know when, I don’t know how, but all I know is that I will write that book and it will minister and set a lot of people free.
You may be like how I initially was, thinking that you have nothing to share or no one wants to hear or listen to what you have to say. You may be feeling like you don’t have the platform where you can share your story. You may be feeling too scared or timid to even share your story. I understand because I was all of that plus more.
But let me tell you this, everything, and I mean EVERYTHING that you have been through or will ever go through in this life is for a purpose! God uses those things, big or small, to minister to others who may be facing a similar situation. But because you have been through it and overcame it, you are now the best and right person to encourage and empower the person who is facing the same challenge and having a difficult time staying strong. And God Himself will provide you with a platform where you get to share your story.
I can’t tell you how many times I have been encouraged by hearing someone else’s testimony of how God brought them out of the same challenge that I am currently facing; or how many times I have been empowered with tips and ideas from someone who has been there, done that, and overcame. And most times these are not even people that I know or people who know me; it could be someone on the television, or in a book I read or a blog or an excerpt out any postings or articles, and even on social media. God is unlimited in the resources He uses to reach us. God is not going to physically come down from Heaven to deliver someone or to comfort someone, that is why He sends you and I on an assignment to share our testimonies with others. Revelations 12:11 says
“and they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.”
That is why we must obey the call of God to use our lives as a platform to minister hope and love and faith to others. We have to allow God to speak to others through our lives. We can’t be selfish and live for ourselves alone; but we should see and recognize the need to minister hope and life into someone else’s situation.
So whatever God has placed in your heart to do, I want to encourage you to go for it; start doing it now! Call that person, write that blog, make that video, start that YouTube Channel, write that book, send that text, make that post; whatever it is, just do it! Do not delay it any further. Be obedient to God and get going. People are waiting for you; they are waiting to be delivered through your story. Don’t leave them hanging. It’s time for them to start living in victory too!
I had to do the same thing even though it was completely out of my comfort zone. I had to decide that I was going to start writing blogs! I had to decide that I was going to obey and start the YouTube Channel. I had to decide that I would obey and create that social media account dedicated to advancing God’s Kingdom agenda. I had to obey and decide that I am going to start a podcast with my friend (be on the lookout for it; it’s coming soon!). None of this is anyway in the vicinity of my comfort zone but you know what, I know that God values obedience more than sacrifice; so I made the choice to obey and I pray that you would do the same too. 1 Samuel 15:22 says
“What is more pleasing to the Lord: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams.”
When I hear from people of how much something I have posted or written or spoken about has ministered to them and blessed them, I am grateful that God chose me to use as His instrument or vessel to bless someone’s life. It makes it all worthwhile especially on days when I don’t feel like doing any of those things I mentioned. It encourages me to push on towards the prize like Apostle Paul said in Philippians 3:14
“I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.”
So friends, people are waiting on you. They are waiting on your story and testimony which no one else can tell it the way you would; they are waiting on your message which is unique to you. They are waiting to be delivered and comforted by your testimonies. So it’s time for you to move on to what God has called you to do. The time is now! No more delays! No more procrastination! No more excuses!
I will leave you with an excerpt from a video I made and posted on social media, just as a reminder for us all:
You are one of a kind. There is only one you and you MATTER so much! Your voice matters! Your contribution matters!
What you were placed on this earth to do, only you can do it.
NO ONE else can do it the way you would do it. There's something unique about you!
You are one of a kind.
And it doesn't matter if others are already doing it, or have done it before.
You are the only one that can do it the way you do it.
And besides, we are not called to serve everyone but we are called to serve specific people.
And those people are WAITING FOR YOU.
It's time for you to step out and do that thing you've always wanted to do (you know what I'm talking about) but you were too afraid or maybe others discouraged you.
Afraid, thinking “what if I fail?” “What if nobody watches my videos or reads my blogs?”
“What if I make a fool of myself?”
LISTEN! What if you win? What if you impact one life or thousands of lives?
What if you make a fool of yourself but that's what draws people to you? What if?
Forget about the naysayers and step out in faith.
Take the leap and watch God catch you even if you fall.
You got this! You can do it!
People are waiting for your gifts and your talents, and God is waiting to display His crown of glory on you and on others through your life!
WILL YOU TAKE THE LEAP?
So until next time, remember, keep your hope in God for He loves you unconditionally and has promised to never leave you nor forsake you!
